Welcome to the Evelyn City Neighborhood

Evelyn City is a subdivision of a large Tampa neighborhood known as Old Seminole Heights and was initially developed in the early 1900s. For the purposes of this blog, the boundaries will be: the Hillsborough River to the north, 275 to the West, 22nd Street to the East and Sligh Ave to the South.
There are many issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the area, however I feel that this is a great neighborhood to live in. We have a wonderful diversity of homes, people, parks, and businesses.

Tampa City Council just tied us to a 25 year TECO Franchise agreement. 25 years in the energy industry is a long time. Can you imagine what the City Council was thinking when they signed the last 25 year agreement back in the 1980s? At that time the oil companies were doing whatever it took to tie us to oil. Look at the US auto industry now. This city is stuck with the original 1900s energy infrastructure for another 25 years. Wonder how Charlie, Joe, Gwen and Thomas really justified their votes on not continuing this for another 6 months to add requested language that would have provided protections to the residents of Tampa. To bad none of them will live another 25 years to deal with the impacts of their decisions.

We need to find someone that will sit on the Council and have the balls to stand up to corporate giants and high rollers. We also need a mayor who is not afraid to defend the city in legal action. Having the balls and willpower to defend the city's stance on code issues would go a long way in cleaning this city up some. Time to start looking to 2010 and a NEW City of Tampa.

Chloe Coney's son is planning on running for city council. Chloe say he will run for Tom Scott's position since Tom Scott is planning on running for Mayor.
