Welcome to the Evelyn City Neighborhood

Evelyn City is a subdivision of a large Tampa neighborhood known as Old Seminole Heights and was initially developed in the early 1900s. For the purposes of this blog, the boundaries will be: the Hillsborough River to the north, 275 to the West, 22nd Street to the East and Sligh Ave to the South.
There are many issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the area, however I feel that this is a great neighborhood to live in. We have a wonderful diversity of homes, people, parks, and businesses.

Elderly Seminole Heights Resident Returned Home Thanks to a TPD Roll Call

Late last year TPD held a roll call at the home of a Seminole Heights resident. The roll call was attended by more than two dozen residents of the immediate neighborhood. This past Friday night, those neighbors came together to return a confused neighbor safely home.

After leaving her house earlier on Friday, Jane (not her real name) could not remember how to return home once her errands were completed. She pulled into the parking lot of a Seminole Heights business early Friday evening and started asking passers by if they could help her get to the intersection close to her home. She could not remember her address; she just knew the major intersection close to her home. One of those passers by lived near the intersection she was looking for and offered to help her get back to that area. As they neared the intersection, this Good Samaritan recognized the house that had held the TPD Roll Call. They made the decision to knock on that door at 10:30pm to see if they could be of further assistance. Surprised to see a stranger at his door at such a late hour, the homeowner was stunned when he was asked if he knew who Jane was. Jane was not only a neighbor, but a very dear friend. As it turns out, all of the parties involved had attended the Roll Call and lived in close proximity to each other. Had it not been for the Good Samaritan and the TPD Roll Call, who knows how long it would have taken Jane to return home?

TPD Roll Calls are one of the best ways to not only get to know the officers that are patrolling your streets, but it is a great way to meet your neighbors. As this story shows, the benefits of knowing your neighbors can be countless and very rewarding.
