Welcome to the Evelyn City Neighborhood

Evelyn City is a subdivision of a large Tampa neighborhood known as Old Seminole Heights and was initially developed in the early 1900s. For the purposes of this blog, the boundaries will be: the Hillsborough River to the north, 275 to the West, 22nd Street to the East and Sligh Ave to the South.
There are many issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the area, however I feel that this is a great neighborhood to live in. We have a wonderful diversity of homes, people, parks, and businesses.

Congratulations to Megan Allen, chosen as Florida's Teacher of the Year. Megan teaches at our very own Cleveland Elementary School!!!

Cleveland Elementary School is one of the oldest elementary schools in the city and has seen its share of problems being one of the 'inter-city' schools. However, it appears that the school is attracting excellent teachers and they should be applauded for these efforts. The school is located at 723 E Hamilton and was beautifully restored several years ago. I visited the school when they celebrated their 80th birthday and found the staff, students and facility to be open, engaging, and filled with history. I encourage all of you to visit the school and if you have time, volunteer to help a child get the best possible education. The school's website is:

We are certainly proud to have the best teacher Florida has to offer teaching our students and thank the staff at Cleveland Elementary for allowing her to use her skills to make learning fun.
