Welcome to the Evelyn City Neighborhood

Evelyn City is a subdivision of a large Tampa neighborhood known as Old Seminole Heights and was initially developed in the early 1900s. For the purposes of this blog, the boundaries will be: the Hillsborough River to the north, 275 to the West, 22nd Street to the East and Sligh Ave to the South.
There are many issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the area, however I feel that this is a great neighborhood to live in. We have a wonderful diversity of homes, people, parks, and businesses.

Did you see or hear all of the noise last Tuesday night? At 11pm a suspect bailed out of a car at Broad and Nebraska, that lead to helicopters in the air at low levels for about an hour. Then around 1:30am someone was yelling loudly walking down the 1000 block of Broad St. The police were called and showed up almost immediately, I am still waiting to hear the outcome.

Then on Friday, detectives were back on our street looking for a large black women, reason unknown. They were also at my house following up on the stolen AC units, man is he in trouble.

Have you seen a kid walking down the street fumbling on a cell phone? Chances are this kid is scoping out the neighborhood to find a target home. He/She is text messaging his/her buddies on what he/she is finding. If you see someone standing around you home, in the street or otherwise, appearing to be punching numbers on a cell phone, do the following: ask them if they are looking for something in particular. They may say that they are trying to get a signal on their cell phone at which point the man relaying the story to me said: “oh yea, I know how to fix that, bring the phone over here”. They took off as fast as they could. Whatever the case make sure that they know that you are watching them and you are taking action. At that point they will probably run away.

Remember the kids are out of school next week, keep your guard up.
