Taken from LifeinSeminoleHeights - thanks Rick for posting this one on your site.
Our local post offices and individual carriers have been pushing for everyone to switch to curbside mailboxes. Sometimes with out-right lies "that it is required" to tenants, new owners, etc. Sometimes by just planting a mailbox curbside at vacant houses. IT IS NOT REQUIRED!
Part of living in a older neighborhood are traditional neighborhood characteristics like mailboxes on the front porch or mail-slots in the door or maybe at a garden gate mailbox. Mail carriers that actually know the people on their routes. If I wanted a box curbside then give me suburbia or take me back to the country where a round trip to the mailbox was a mile down a dirt and gravel lane..rain, snow or a 100 degrees.
Urban neighborhoods aren't right for rural route mailboxes and more than our porch boxes would be a home in the country. Why make mail theft easier? Why increase the potential for identity theft?
Curb your dog....not your mailbox.
