Welcome to the Evelyn City Neighborhood

Evelyn City is a subdivision of a large Tampa neighborhood known as Old Seminole Heights and was initially developed in the early 1900s. For the purposes of this blog, the boundaries will be: the Hillsborough River to the north, 275 to the West, 22nd Street to the East and Sligh Ave to the South.
There are many issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the area, however I feel that this is a great neighborhood to live in. We have a wonderful diversity of homes, people, parks, and businesses.

Our new Chief of Police spent the earlier part of her years rising through the ranks patrolling the Old Seminole Heights neighborhood.

In lieu of giving Jane yet another plaque, the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Watch group has elected to setup a fund in her name to benefit our local schools. To that end,

The Seminole Heights Foundation is accepting donations to the Jane Castor Academic Fund to benefit the local Seminole Heights Schools. This fund has been established to honor Chief Jane Castor for the dedication and service she has provided to the residents of Seminole Heights during her years with the Tampa Police Department. We will continue to recognize her efforts as she takes on the role of Chief of Police for the City of Tampa by using this fund to teach and encourage our children.

I discussed this with Chief Castor and we would are working on plans to have her on hand to present the first check from the fund to one of our local schools during Great American Teach-In in November. If you would to contribute to this fund, please specify “Jane Castor Academic Fund” on a check make payable to the Seminole Heights Foundation. You can also donate online at http://seminoleheightsfoundation.org/wordpress/
