Welcome to the Evelyn City Neighborhood

Evelyn City is a subdivision of a large Tampa neighborhood known as Old Seminole Heights and was initially developed in the early 1900s. For the purposes of this blog, the boundaries will be: the Hillsborough River to the north, 275 to the West, 22nd Street to the East and Sligh Ave to the South.
There are many issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the area, however I feel that this is a great neighborhood to live in. We have a wonderful diversity of homes, people, parks, and businesses.

Monthly Pot Luck We had a great time last night at Susan's house. For those of you who missed last night's pot luck, we have lined up more for the coming months. Wes & Faye Miller are hosting on March 19. They live at 7310 Park Dr, along the river. Look for more details closer to the date. When the hosts for April and May select their dates, I will post them. This is a great way to meet you neighbors.

We had about 20 people at the last one. Let's see how many this time.

I just discovered this site. Love the old picture, so cool. What two streets are they where this was taken? Is one Nebraska looking down which? Broad Street maybe? I've lived in Tampa for 39 yrs and don't recall ever seeing or knowing about those brick columns and sign. Obviously, the sign is not around anymore but are there any remains left of the columns?
This is so interesting. Nice to see the folks living there recognizing the history of this area known as Evelyn City and allowing others to know about it, I never did. Thanks for the opportunity through your website.

Thank you. We do believe that the sign was on Broad St. There is a movement underway to bring the sign back. Susan Long is heading up the endeavor and you can contact her if want would like any other information.
